Franconian Forest Nature Reserve - in the footsteps of the raftsmen

In the Franconian Forest nature reserve, life on the water revolves around the rafting tradition. More than 800 years ago, rafting was one of the most important trades in the region. Today, the wooden rafts take tourists down the narrow valley of the Wilde Rodach.

The rafting museum, located inside a former raftsman’s house, tells the raftmen’s story.
The rafting route is also perfect for hiking. It starts at the source of the Wilde Rodach in Rauhenberg and stretches for 24 km to Rodach Valley. From here you can walk along the Rodach, which later joins the Main River.
