Altmühltal Nature Reserve - A Pirate Voyage through the Altmühltal

The Altmühl offers a taste of adventure and freedom in the nature reserve of the same name. It runs through the Altmühl Valley for a total of 152 km and is ideal for beginner canoeists and buccaneering families! The route includes unique scenic attractions such as the “Twelve Apostles” at Solnhofen or the famous “Gungoldinger Wacholderheide”. Boat flumes on the route promise lots of splashy fun!

Experienced canoeists can start their journey on the Altmühl at Dietfurt in the Main-Danube Canal and paddle along the largest canal in Europe alongside freight and passenger ships.

The Altmühl offers an all-round service for exploration by boat. There are plenty of embarking and landing points and numerous locations offering canoe hire, kayaks or Canadian canoes which also offer luggage and passenger transfers as well as dropping off and picking up boats.
