Karwendel Alpine Park - wild river landscape and mountain lakes

The Isar headwater is part of the Karwendel Alpine Park, and is one of the most biodiverse natural river landscapes in Europe. The mountains are rich in gold, silver, jade, granite, crystal and marble, as well as fossils and intrusive rock.

One highlight for water lovers is Soiern Lake, which is located at an altitude of 1600 m, making it one of the highest lakes. Here, you can walk in the footsteps of King Ludwig II and pause to admire the view of the Benediktenwand escarpment from the Soiern House.

On Ferchen Lake you can hire a rowing boat, while Lauter Lake and Barm Lake are the perfect places for a swim.
