Lauenburg Lakes - Trave River

Nature Reserve Lauenburgische Seen -

Experience an unforgettable canoe trip on the most biodiverse waters northeast of Hamburg: the ‘Lauenburg Lakes – Trave River’ area. On its course from the rolling hills that typically shape the Holstein landscape to the Baltic Sea, the Trave River shows a thousand and one faces: Forests alternate with meadows, straight sections with winding sections of the river and wild waters with calm waters – canoeists will enjoy the roughly 60 kilometres of changing sceneries between Warderbrück and Lübeck. The Lauenburg Lakes canoeing region is much calmer paddling from Lübeck via the Wakenitz River and the Ratzeburg Lakes to Schaal Lake – on a stretch of 40 km canoeists will experience a romantic riverscape, idyllic lakes and woody banks and see a magnificent cathedral. A city tour of Lübeck and Ratzeburg by boat invites visitors to explore the towns from a different angle.

Worthwhile destinations on land:

The towns of Bad Segeberg, Bad Oldesloe, Lübeck and Ratzeburg, Lübeck Bay and the Baltic Sea.
