Eider - Treene - Sorge - three rivers, one landscape

Bargener Fähre - (c) Eider-Treene-Sorge GmbH(c) Eider-Treene-Sorge GmbH

Discover the largest interconnected river landscape in Schleswig-Holstein with the Eider, Treene and Sorge Rivers. Wide-ranging meadows, quaint moors and idyllic villages of thatched-roof houses shape the unique character of this countryside. Enjoy nature all around you as strutting storks, calling lapwings and the rare curlew accompany you on a paddling tour of the area. The waterways of this landscape dominated by the three rivers and its proximity to nature can be explored by canoe.

The Treene can be navigated from Langstedt and in this section is relatively short and narrow. From Esperstoft the Treene is wider and thus well-suited for family excursions.

The Sorge is continually navigable from Owschlag. Only the “AlteSorge” is, however, protected landscape and closed off to water sports.

The Eider, coming from an easterly direction, crosses right through the heart of Schleswig-Holstein. Motor boats and water skiers are allowed on some sections of the Eider. There’s plenty of space for all types of activities. The influence of the tides and the strength of the wind increase on the approach to the western coast.
